DUAL SWITCHED LINE COMBINER
|
Description The Kenton Research Dual Switched Line Combiner and Splitter Unit MOD8556 has been designed to be used in telecontrol applications where one central control modem is to be connected to up to six remote sites each equipped with a 4-wire switched carrier modem. Signals from the control modem pass through the unit and are sent to each remote site. The response channel from a remote site is only switched through to the control modem when valid modem tones are detected and an interlock disables the other response channels. An antistreaming timer will lock out any response channel with carrier on for longer than the set period and allow the remaining channels to function correctly. Robust modem tone detection techniques provide fast reliable switching with excellent immunity from spurious signals and noise. The unit incorporates level adjustment on each output port. Line amplification with selectable amplitude HF equalisation on the input ports allows use on copper cables. Powering is from an external dc supply 19 to 60V dc positive or negative earth with built-in over-voltage and under-voltage protection. Comprehensive alarm and status outputs are provided for connection to SCADA systems for remote monitoring and maintenance. Construction The
unit is constructed in a DIN standard 19” 3U shelf which houses
two identical completely independent systems. The shelf houses all system
cards and a PCB backplane which accommodates user connections on the
rear. Removing the rear cover gives access to the PCB mounted connectors
for user wiring, power wiring to a Klippon screw terminal block, safety
earth to a M5 stud and all other connections to Krone IDC connectors.
Cable anchors are provided on the rear bar by the cable entry. The unit
can be supplied sub-equipped with one power supply module and control
card fitted, with up to 7 line cards for a system with 6 remote ports.
Front panel LED indicators and test access sockets are provided to assist
commissioning and maintenance. KENTON RESEARCH LIMITED |
