Termination Interface for basic rate ISDN lines at customer
premises.
Description
The NTE1A is a basic rate access ISDN network termination
unit fitted at the customers premises which terminates the copper cable
presenting the U interface from the local exchange and provides an S/T
interface for connection of subscribers equipment.
ISDN basic rate access gives the user two B channels,
each of 64kbps which may be used for transmission of speech and data and
one D channel of 16kbps which is normally used for signalling.
Different types of user terminal equipment
such as ISDN telephones, Group 4 facsimile machines, PC cards and ISDN
PABX’s etc may be connected to the S bus up to a maximum of eight.
An attached equipment may utilise one or both B channels. If one B channel
is not busy it may be used by another equipment. The D signalling channel
may be used by several attachments simultaneously.
